A Dual-use carton that turns everyday drinks into frozen treats!
FusionPak is a patent-pending carton concept for single-serve aseptic beverages (125–200 ml).
It allows consumers to enjoy a drink as usual — or freeze it at home and eat it as a push-up frozen treat, using the same carton.
The functionality is built directly into the package through a controlled tear-off zone. When frozen, the carton opens cleanly and predictably, while remaining fully compatible with existing aseptic filling lines.
In practice, FusionPak turns a standard drink carton into a simple two-mode format:
drink it fresh, or freeze it, tear it open, and eat it!


What FusionPak does
FusionPak adds a second consumption moment without changing the product inside.
For consumers, a familiar drink suddenly becomes a frozen snack. One product fits multiple moments: on-the-go, in the lunchbox, or as a summer treat. No sticks, no plastic tubes, no mess.
For brands, existing beverages can be repositioned as freeze-ready SKUs. The format enables seasonal launches, family-oriented propositions and premium line extensions, while standing out in crowded categories.
For packaging suppliers, FusionPak represents a value-added laminate innovation. It requires no changes to filling equipment and introduces a functional feature that is currently not available in standard carton portfolios.
Why it matters
A recent standalone consumer survey (N = 101) shows that the concept resonates quickly and clearly.
Most respondents immediately understand the idea, and a strong majority perceive it as innovative. Purchase intent is solid, with over 60% of consumers indicating they would purchase the product more frequently if it were offered in this format.
Just as importantly, consumers are willing to pay for the added functionality.
Over two-thirds accept a premium compared to a €1.- reference price. The median accepted premium is €0.10, with a conservative average of around €0.13 per pack. More than a quarter of respondents are willing to pay a premium of €0.25 or more!.

Why it works for the industry
FusionPak is designed to be low-friction. All functionality sits at the laminate level, meaning existing filling lines can remain unchanged.
The concept is highly scalable and applicable across children's beverages, dairy and flavoured milk, smoothies, fruit drinks, water based drinks and functional or protein-based products.
It also opens a new door for cartons: the freeze-at-home ice-pop category, which today is dominated almost entirely by plastic tubes and sachets.
From a sustainability perspective, FusionPak offers a clear advantage. It uses significantly less plastic than traditional freeze pops and remains fully compatible with existing carton recycling streams.
The bigger picture
FusionPak is more than a new opening feature. It is a usage platform.
It allows brands and packaging partners to create new consumption moments, support premiumisation, extend portfolios without reformulation, and compete with plastic-based frozen formats using a carton-based solution.
